The Davis Methods see dyslexic talent and dyslexic challenge as two sides of the same coin: two different facets of the same learner identity. The many famous and successful dyslexics have not succeeded in spite of their dyslexia, but because of it. Davis sees dyslexic learning difficulties as arising out of a mismatch between how dyslexics naturally learn and how we are trying to teach them. When dyslexics discover ways of learning that play to their natural strengths, learning becomes easy.

Davis Methods

In 1994, when Ronald Davis wrote his first book, “The Gift Of Dyslexia: Why some of the brightest people can’t read and how they can learn”, the idea that dyslexia could be considered as a gift seemed outlandish. Now, the special talents accompanying dyslexia are so often celebrated, the idea has become almost mainstream. Nonetheless, the very real pain that goes with dyslexic challenges remains.

The Davis mission is to empower individuals with dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, ADHD and autism to realise their full potential. As well as working one-to-one with such individuals, Davis centres offer insight-driven courses and workshops to equip parents and educators with new ways of supporting those who think and learn differently.

Join Richard Whitehead, Director of Davis UK and Ireland and author of two books on the Davis methods, as he reveals a new and exciting view of learning differences: how they arise, how best to support them, and what they will give to the world in return.
