Supporting Learners with Dyscalculia in Primary School – Judy Hornigold This talk will explain the nature of dyscalculia and how it differs from more general maths learning difficulties. Indicators of dyscalculia will be detailed together with a review of current screening tools for dyscalculia. The course will also explore a range of strategies to support children with dyscalculia, from the use of a range of manipulatives through to bar modelling and visualisation. The training will be very practical with strategies that practitioners will be able to implement in their teaching straight away. Judy is an educational consultant specialising in Maths and learners with dyscalculia and dyslexia. Her teaching career started in primary schools before she moved into teaching children with special needs.
